Executive Pastry Chef, Patina Catering
As the Executive Pastry Chef of Patina Restaurant Group, Frania Mendivil oversees pastry production at all of the restaurant group’s West Coast concepts and catering operations. This includes indulgent desserts at the group’s premier dining destinations, and elegant confections at some of the most respected, star-studded celebrations in town, including the prestigious Creative Arts Ball, the Primetime Emmy® Awards Governors Ball, and the official GRAMMY Celebration®. Although her career has been defined by high-level achievements, including honors and awards from international pastry competitions, the James Beard Foundation, and the Los Angeles Times, Mendivil’s passion for the pastry arts comes from humble beginnings.
“Baking and pastry has been in my family for over 100 years. To this day, my grandmother still runs the family bakery that my grandfather started in Mexico,” comments Mendivil. “When I first came to this country, I was homesick and felt something was missing, so I enrolled in a culinary class with a focus on pastry. For me it's natural, it's like being home."
